I want to extend a warm welcome to this poem home.
Enjoy your visit and I hope this will be a source of inspiration and encouragement.

Having composed songs for young children throughout my 27 years in the classroom,
I moved more into poetry following that period.

Lost and Found

Lost and Found

If I get lost and turned around,
just turn me in to Lost and Found.

Giving me directions just won’t do
since I’ll probably just end back with you.

I unfold a great, big map
and spread it out upon my lap.

But then I find the print so small
it doesn’t help me after all.

So I’ll just stay with Lost and Found
until they get me Homeward Bound.

Perhaps they’ll give me tasty food,
(that is if I’m in the mood.)

I may even take a nap
(if it doesn’t cause a flap).

I imagine , though, they’ll take me home,
reminding me I’d best not roam.

So if you get lost and turned around,
come visit me at Lost and Found.

Since you know me and I know you,
we’re already found. That’s true!
