I want to extend a warm welcome to this poem home.
Enjoy your visit and I hope this will be a source of inspiration and encouragement.
Some of my roles include that of mother, grandmother and kindergarten educator (ret.).
Having composed songs for young children throughout my 27 years in the classroom,
I moved more into poetry following that period.
Please feel welcome to share these offerings with others as well.

Moving Day

When there are empty rooms inside
that fears attempt to occupy,
disturbing, disrupting and tossing about,
leaving havoc in their wake,
the soft and gentle coloring of butterflies
stop them at the door.

Like silent sentinels,
they wait and watch and know
the peace that lives within
and moves without.

Unseen Birds

When the icy fingers of cold indifference
grasp us by the throat,
stifling our voices,
the warmth and breadth of human understandings
melt away their tight grip,
replacing them with sounds of music,
heard and unheard
like birds unseen but always there.

Safe Passage

You and I are on a covered bridge..
one filled with warmth and light,
Aglow with faith and love all clothed
in soft-lit rainbow bright.

Within this cozy covered place,
this spacious, open way,
we are passageways for others
who seek a bright, new day.

Glow

From the cold and barren wastelands
windswept, empty and lifeless,
comes the finest light --
first flickering,
then glowing with steady resolve,
growing with intensity
until
opening up the warm-lit ways
where love and peace prevail.
