There is a candle in my heart
glowing in the softness there,
sending out its gentle rays
while wrapping them with tender care.
There is a candle in my heart
shining softly all the while.
Other searchlights come and go
and never know an inner smile.
There is a candle in my heart
singing, freeing souls with light,
warmly waiting where it lives
in softer days and brighter nights.
There is a candle in my heart
flickering in feathered homes,
then soaring high and diving deep,
far beyond its home of poems.
